Well done for holding out on those Elves! 👏

It reminds me of when our next door neighbour ended up in a letter writing conversation with her daughter as the tooth fairy!

Be strong. 👏👏👏

A letter writing conversation as the tooth fairy! 😆 Oh, I can SO see something like this in my future if I’m not careful!

I’m so pleased you balked at Mr Heughan’s accent too... some people suit a northern English accent and some don’t - he was a definite don’t! I think it made me gloss over all the other things you pointed out because I kept wincing every time he spoke. He should have a “no accent except Scottish” clause in every contract 😂

But thank you also for informing me it was filmed in the Netherlands - I said at the time, Where in Leeds is that ffs?!!

And their son who conveniently took himself off somewhere to give his parents privacy every time they swung (swinged??)... I got so cross but of course like you I binge watched the whole thing.

It’s left me questioning my life choices 🙈 (about TV watching I mean, oh god not about anything like their antics 🥴🥴)!!!

The other thing that made the accent so weird was that none of the other characters seemed to have particularly strong northern accents (Or did they?!), even though they were all presumably supposed to be from that area, which made his jump out even more. I'm guessing they maybe thought it would be weird for him to sound Scottish but less weird for the rest to sound southern? And the disappearing son! Where was he supposed to be during the 95% of the time he wasn't with his parents?!

The elves are creepy! And why do we keep adopting American traditions?

I blame the internet/social media - I think it's made everything seem universal, so people see someone doing it, and they just think they have to do it too. It's quite hard to resist when its kids, though, because they can't understand why they're the "only one" not getting to do whatever the thing is!
