Hi, I’m Amber Eve — author of smalltown romantic comedies, and my long-running blog, Forever Amber. If you’d like to know more about me, start here. If you’d like to hear more from me, meanwhile, hit the button below.
So, after last week’s vaguely hysterical update, I regret to say that nothing particularly exciting has happened in the last seven days. No one got married. No one got a book deal or literary agent. There weren’t even any castles (Which is probably why nothing exciting happened, if the previous two weeks were anything to go by …) and a week without castles is no week at all, really, is it?
I’ll tell you what DID happen, though: the Heather Bay Romance Series got pretty new covers, that’s what…
This is actually something we’ve had in the works for a while now, but between delays with the illustrator, and all the school holidays we’ve had to navigate, it took quite a bit longer than anticipated. With that said, I’m really happy with the results, and have cleverly created this universal Amazon link which should take you to the series page on your local site, but if it doesn’t, you can obviously still just type my name in the search box, and they should pop up.
To celebrate, Impostor is currently 99p (or 99 cents, or whatever price it is in your local currency, I have no idea, sorry…), but only in the eBook version, which means you don’t get the pretty, wraparound covers you get on the paperback, but you still get the same book inside.
Anyway! I’ve had a few questions recently about this series and whether it will continue — I’m very aware I’ve left both Scarlett and Lexie with unfinished business, shall we say — and the answer to that is YES, there will be at least one (and possibly two) more Heather Bay books coming at some point1; the problem is I’m not totally sure when that point will be right now, because there’s still a lot happening behind the scenes right now that I’m not able to talk about yet … which I know is very annoying and dramatic of me, but hopefully I’ll be able to share more very soon.
In the meantime, I’m currently — checks notes — 27,544 words into Book Number 9, which I should probably start referring to as Book Number 8, because although it’s technically my 9th book in terms of the actual writing of them all, it’s most likely going to be released before book number 8, so that’s nice and confusing for everyone. As I said, though, I’m 27,544 words into it, which the Reedsy Editor I use to write informs me is approximately 34% done.
This book has had a bit of a rocky start, because I started writing it shortly before the Easter holidays, so I almost immediately had to hit the pause button for those two weeks of drama, and, having only just started to feel like I’ve hit some kind of ‘flow’ with it, I’m going to have to stop again for next week’s bank holiday, and then again for yet another bank holiday later in the month. So it’s all been a bit stop/start, which isn’t how I’d prefer to write, and it’s making it a bit tricky to keep all of my pates spinning right now, but hey. We move. Or, in my case, we don’t move, because I’m already at my desk, which is where I’m going to be for the next few hours, or however long it takes to hit today’s target word count (which is 2,018 words, in case you’re particularly interested).
Until next week, then,
To be totally honest, if they sell well I’ll happily just keep writing them forever, so, you know, if you’re a Heather Bay fan, that’s your cue to get buying…
They're very pretty!
