When me and David were first dating, he came to stay at the house where I was housesitting. They had a smoke alarm that connected to the fire station - if the alarm went off, they would phone and you would give a code word if you didn’t need them to come out. I explained all this to David.

Probably mere moments later, he was making eggy bread while I was elsewhere - working upstairs most likely. Heard the phone ring, heard him answer, though “oh good, everything under control...”

Ten mins later there was a knock at the door and I opened it to find two fire engines and a line of firefighters. It was dark and I can still picture the light reflecting off their coats as they all stared at me.

We got a call-out fee too. I think it was £100.

Amber nooooooooooooooo!!!!! I'm mortified on your behalf...!! hehe

I too envisioned you sitting at the back of ambulance with the foil blanket round you before you even wrote that, lol... oh well, at least it really wasn't an actual fire! To be honest I'm surprised you even cooked anything after reading that notice, I would have read it and gone NOPE we're getting a takeaway, no cooking for me!

Glad Max got to meet firefighters though - and er, =cough=, you too ;)
