Hi, I’m Amber Eve — author of smalltown romantic comedies, and my long-running blog, Forever Amber. If you’d like to know more about me, start here. If you’d like to hear more from me, meanwhile, hit the button below…
Launch days are weird.
I always feel like I should be doing something to celebrate the fact that a book I wrote has finally made its way into the world — like throwing a huge party, or opening a bottle of fizz at the very least — but, of course, the reality is that it’s a school night, and I have to essentially re-write book number 9 before I go on holiday next week, so … yeah. It’s all a bit underwhelming, really.
(Also, there’s almost nothing I hate more than throwing large parties, so there’s that, too.)
With all of that said, it would be equally weird to let the publication day pass without so much as a mention, so let the record show that BIKINI, my enemies-to-lovers, fake dating rom com set on a fictional Greek island, and starring a cast of side characters who may-or-may not be inspired by my real-life Greek in-laws, is out TODAY.
Here it is, carefully posed on a coffee table, with matching ‘BIKINI’ themed mug:
Just think, if you bought this book, you too could take a photo of it on a coffee table (or anywhere else, really…) with a pair of sunglasses! Then you could send it to me, and I could publish it here, or maybe on Instagram. Actually, can we do that? Can that be a Thing? I would like that to be a Thing…
If you don’t want to get the paperback, the book is also available in ebook form, and is part of the Kindle Unlimited programme, so if you have that, you can read it as part of your subscription. All I ask is that, if you read and enjoy it, you please consider taking just a few minutes of your time to leave a review — or even just a star rating — on Amazon. It doesn’t have to be anything in-depth or complicated (I think a lot of people, when asked to review a book, feel a bit like they’re back in high school, being asked to hand in a book report, but, seriously, this is nothing like that!), but reviews are one of the ways Amazon gauges the popularity of a book, and decides whether or not to show it to more people, so anything at all that you want to say about it would be a huge help to me.
Here’s what the book looks like on my kitchen table, still with that mug:
(I’m trying to persuade Terry to set up the online store on my website so I can produce more of these and sell them, but he’s digging his heels in, so this is a one-off for now. Leave it with me, though…)
There is, of course, much more I could — and probably should — be saying about this, but although I had the very best of intentions to promote the hell out of this book, now it’s finally out, I have, as I said, a book to edit, two snails to look after (don’t ask…), suitcases to pack for our holiday next week, and my child’s school just announced that tomorrow is a PJ day, so now I have to go and dig out a pair of pyjamas that aren’t either hopelessly stained or shrunk by the dryer, and wash and iron them so he can wear them to school. Which, honestly, will never stop being weird to me.
So, instead of talking any more about my book, I’m going to just hope you all go and read it, instead. Then you can all talk about it amongst yourselves, while I stress over snails and pyjamas. Yes.
You can buy or download BIKINI here — I really hope you like it!
Until next week,
P.S. Did you know I have a second newsletter, too?
I was so excited to get my pre-order email this morning - happy release day!
Congrats, Amber! Finishing a book is HUGE! Definitely, find some way to celebrate.
I already have the Kindle version, and I'll start it as soon as I finish what I'm reading now. I adore the cover, and that mug is to die for!
Wishing you the very best on this adventure.
